What We Do

Feeding Support

We look at the underlying tightness and restriction that is preventing your baby from achieving a pain-free and effective latch

Tightness or discomfort

We support baby's with neck or body tightness that can impact feeding, movement or cause discomfort. Very frequently baby's who cry in the car have muscle tightness

Hip concerns

We assess baby's with asymmetrical hip creases, clicking or any suspicion of Developmental Hip Dysplasia to ensure baby's can commence early intervention therapy!

Support for Premature Baby's

We work with premature babies who may need extra support to achieve tummy time or their developmental milestones

Delayed Milestone Support

We hollistically assess baby's with delayed rolling, crawling or walking and provide early intervention therapy to help get them moving.

Neurological or Genetic Conditions

We are trained to assess baby's for neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, and frequently work with children with rare genetic diagnosis who need ongoing developmental support

Does this sound familiar?

  • Late night Google searches to see if your child is meeting their milestones

  • Being told to 'wait and see' rather than getting an action plan to support your child

  • Following different baby development pages for play and exercise ideas that aren't quite working for your baby

Don't worry, we can help!

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand baby's development can be a lot to take in as a new parent, so we've kept things simple and honest

Question 1: When should I see a Paediatric Physiotherapist?

Paediatric Physiotherapy is for baby's who have tightness (especially neck or tummy tightness), head shape concerns, hip concerns, feet concerns or if they aren't keeping up with milestones such as tummy time, rolling, crawling or walking.

Question 2: When should I book my baby in for an assessment?

Each concerns sits on a slightly different timeline. For example, any baby's with tightness we usually like to see under 1 month of age (or as close to this as is feasible) as there is strong evidence to say that this is when baby's see the best and fastest treatment results. For other concerns such as head shape, feet or hip concerns, we recommend coming in as soon as you notice them. If your concern is related to baby's development, we know that early intervention helps kiddos keep up with peers and supports all aspects of development so we usually recommend getting an assessment if you are worried so we can put your mind at ease or start your baby on a treatment plan to support their development.

Question 3: I was referred for feeding concerns, is this something you treat?

Yes! Feeding concerns are very often due to neck tightness. If baby's neck and jaw is tight, they have difficulty with fully opening their mouth, achieving a full seal when sucking and can have difficulty moving their tongue side to side. Paediatric Physiotherapy addresses the underlying tightness concern so your baby is able to feed more easily (and less painfully for mum!)

Sometimes baby's need a collaborative team approach which is why we work closely with lactation consultants and osteopaths and if needed, will refer you to a trusted health professional to also be involved in bub's care.

Question 4: When should my child be rolling, crawling or walking?

Children all develop at their own pace, however there are windows of development that we expect children to develop at. We find that if children are delayed in achieving a milestone within 1-2 months of the expected milestone, there is usually tightness or weakness that is holding them back. By addressing it as soon as it's noticed, children's often don't need as much treatment to help them get back on track!

We have created a developmental milestone checklist for the first 12 months which you can download HERE
